10 years
I have always been creative. My former life was as a professional singer. But after having my baby I discovered photography and learned quickly that I could make it into a business.
I have a 10-year-old daughter that never lets me take a picture of her. (Ironic, right?) and a great husband who puts up with all my craziness. We travel together often and have been fortunate to travel to a lot of great places together. One of the greatest gifts I can give my daughter is to show her that the people of the world are all the same even if we live in different places and have different lifestyles. The two big places I want to visit are South Africa and Australia. This year is my husband and my 15th anniversary so I think we might need to hop on a place to one of those places.
Meeting lots of great people
Meet as many people as you can. Connect, get off the computer and meet people face to face.
The Breast Friend Pillow. I couldn’t live without mine.
I’m not a big prop person but I love my Baby Susher for sessions and often give it to my clients when they leave the session because it works so well.
Bright, Bright, Bright
That mommy works hard so that we can have a great life. But with our successes comes a greater responsibility to those who do not have the same advantages we do. It is our job to take our advantages and use those to make other people’s lives better who may not be able to help themselves in the same way.
It really isn’t all about the images. Camera skills are important but if you don’t know how to price and market your art, you won’t get very far. Running a business is hard but you can do it with the right education. And I didn’t have it at the time and make a lot of mistakes along the way.
